Jeonbuk Wins 1st K-League Crown in 15 Years

The pro soccer team Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC has won its first K-League crown in 15 years.

Two goals by Brazilian midfielder Enio Oliveria Jr. and a penalty by striker Lee Dong-gook gave Jeonbuk a 3-1 home win in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, over Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma in the second leg of the championship. The first ended in a scoreless tie Wednesday in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.

Jeonbuk last claimed the title in 1994, when it was called the Chonbuk Buffalo.

Enio scored in the 21st and 39th minutes and Lee added his in the 72nd minute.

Seongnam was vying for its record eighth league title, but could not score until Kim Jin-yong scored on a rebound of a free kick in the 84th minute.
