Rising Temperatures Could Spur Various Diseases

A new report finds that global warming could give rise to various diseases.

According to the report by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs, the prevalence rate for enteritis jumped to nine percent last year from five-point-eight percent in 2004, partially due to rising temperatures sparked by global warming.

The report said that every time the temperature rises by one centigrade, the virus that causes enteritis becomes substantially more active.

Also, according to a joint research team at Ajou University and Seoul National University, if the lowest temperature in March were to increase one centigrade, the number of patients displaying allergies to pollen would jump eleven percent.
