Shin Comes up Short for LPGA Player of the Year

Golfer Lorena Ochoa has won the LPGA Player of the Year award for the fourth straight year, beating out tour money leader and South Korean standout Shin Ji-yai in the season's final tournament.

In the LPGA Tour Championship in Houston, Texas, Shin tied for eighth place at six-under-par. Sweden's Anna Nordqvist won with a 13-under par, Ochoa came in second at eleven-under and Korea's Choi Na-yeon took a share of third at ten-under.

Despite coming up short in her bid to become player of the year, Shin has secured Rookie of the Year status by winning three tournament titles over the course of the season.

Shin, by coming in eighth, added only three points to her Player of the Year tally. Ochoa, meanwhile, added 160 points to finish the season only one point ahead of Shin.
