Korean Elected as IPC Executive Member

Korean Paralympic Committee President Jang Hyang-sook has been elected one of the ten new members of the International Paralympic Committee's Executive Committee.

Jang did so by garnering 75 of 130 votes cast in the IPC general assembly in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In 1989, when the IPC was founded, organizing committee chairman for the Seoul Paralympics Cho Il-mook was appointed as an executive member. But Jang is the first Korean to be elected to the committee.

Her presence on the executive panel will help South Korea play a bigger role in international projects, such as support for paralympics in underdeveloped African nations.
