Pohang Steelers Win AFC Champions League

The Korean pro soccer team Pohang Steelers have won the Asian Football Confederation Champions League title over Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad.

The Steelers beat Al Ittihad, 2-1, in Tokyo Sunday after both teams played a goal-less first half.

Pohang striker No Byung-jun scored the first goal on a free kick in the 57th minute, and teammate Kim Hyung-il added a second eight minutes later.

The Saudi team pulled a goal back but failed to tie the score.

The Steelers are the first Korean team to win the championship since Chunbuk Dinos in 2006.
