Korea Advances to Round of 16 at U-17 World Cup

Korea has advanced to the round of 16 at the FIFA under-17 World Cup for the first time in 22 years.

In the third Group F match in Nigeria, the Korean under-17 soccer team, led by coach Lee Gwang-jong, beat Algeria 2-0 on goals coming from Lee Jong-ho and Son Heung-min.

Korea finished the round with a record of 2-1, advancing to the round of 16 for the first time since the 1987 games in Canada.

Team Korea will on Thursday face off against Mexico, the second-ranked team coming out of Group B, for a spot in the quarterfinals.
