The National Sports Festival in Daejeon will end Monday after a week of fierce competition and exemplary displays of athletic prowess.

At the closing ceremony later in the day at Daejeon World Cup Stadium, the torch will be extinguished and the festival flag will be handed over to a representative for next year's venue, Jinju in South Gyeongsang Province.

Final matches in swimming and team events remain on Monday.

Gyeonggi Province is leading the medal tally, as it aims for its eighth consecutive title.
