A number of Chinese media outlets say the South Korean city of Pyeongchang has a good chance of hosting the 2018 Winter Olympics.

China's official Xinhua News Agency and CCTV reported Wednesday that Harbin City in Heilongjiang Province has given up its plan to make a bid for the event due strength of the other cities making bids, especially South Korea's Pyeongchang.

Chinese media outlets say the Chinese city's decision seems to be based on Pyeongchang’s determination to host the games, as can be seen by the cities’ three bids to host.
