Int'l Astronautical Congress Opens in Daejeon

The 60th International Astronautical Congress has opened in Daejeon.

The event opened at Expo Park on Monday, bringing together three-thousand space experts from 70 countries.

The opening ceremony was headed by Daejeon Mayor Park Seoung-hyo and Korea Aerospace Research Institute President Lee Joo-jin.

Astronauts and space agency heads of 14 countries, including the U.S. and Japan, are attending the event, which will run through October 16th.

Lunar modules and probes, moon rocks, rockets, and goods produced by 145 domestic and overseas aerospace-related companies and agencies will be displayed at an exhibition during the congress.

The exhibitions will be open to the public starting Wednesday. Visitors will also be able to take part in various programs, including an astronaut training course.
