U20 Team Loses to Ghana in Q'finals, 3-2

Korea's run at the FIFA U20 World Cup soccer finals in Egypt has ended at the hands of Ghana in the quarterfinals.

Dominic Adiyah scored two goals and Ghana held off a furious Korean rally in the game's final minutes as the Africans advanced to the semifinals, 3-2, in Suez.

Ghana went up 2-0 in the 28th minute after a goal by Ransford Osei and Adiyah's score in the eighth minute. Park Hee-seong cut the lead in the half with his header in the 31st minute.

Adiyah's second goal in the 82nd minute off a defensive error appeared to be the final stake in Korea's coffin, but Kim Dong-sub scored five minutes later to give the Taegeuk Warriors hope.

The final minutes of the game saw Korea frantically trying to tie the game. Ghana also just missed its fourth goal after a shot hit the post in the closing minutes.

Korea advanced to the U20 World Cup quarterfinals for the first time since the 1991 tournament, but failed to match its semifinal berth of 1983.
