S.Korea U-20 Soccer Team Advances to FIFA Quarterfinals

South Korea’s under-20 national soccer team defeated Paraguay 3-0 on Tuesday to advance to the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals for the first time in 18 years.

The team, led by coach Hong Myung-bo, faced off against the South American powerhouse in a round of 16 match at International Stadium in Cairo, Egypt.

Kim Bo-kyung netted the first goal in the 55th minute and Kim Min-woo scored two consecutive goals in the 60th and 70th minutes.

The last time South Korea's U-20 headed to the quarterfinals was in 1991, when it competed as a unified team with North Korea.

South Korea will vie for a spot in the semifinals Friday when it faces the winner of the match between Ghana and South Africa.
