U20 Soccer Beats US, Advances to Round of 16

The under-20 national soccer team has advanced to the round of 16. It defeated the United States 3-0 in the last Group C match Saturday morning Korea time at the FIFA World U20 Championships in Suez, Egypt.

It's the first time the national team has advanced to the round of 16 in six years, failing to do so in the last two tournaments.

Kim Young-gwon and Kim Bo-kyung scored goals in the 23rd and 42nd minute, respectively, for an early lead in the first half of the game. Then Koo Ja-cheol netted a goal with a penalty in the 29th minute of the second half to finish 3-0.

To advance to the quarter finals, South Korea must defeat Paraguay, which finished second in Group B.
