The city of Pyeongchang in Gangwon Province has submitted its bid intent to host the 2018 Winter Olympics.

The Korea Olympic Committee approved Pyeongchang’s bid in April and launched an official Olympic bidding committee on September 14th.

As part of efforts to boost its chances, Pyeongchang has completed biathlon and ski-jump sites and has made other preparations.

Pyeongchang lost its bid to host the 2010 games to Vancouver, Canada, and its bid to host the 2014 event to Sochi, Russia.

The International Olympic Committee will select the host city in July 2011.
