Korean Golfer Choi Wins Samsung World Championship

South Korean golfer Choi Na-yeon has won the one-million-dollar purse at the LPGA Samsung World Championship in La Jolla, California.

Choi fired a one-under 71 in the final round Sunday (local time) to finish with a 16-under-par 272 at Torrey Pines. She edged out Japan's Ai Miyazato, who finished with a 15-under 273.

It’s Choi’s first victory in a major LPGA event after playing in 55 tournaments since her debut last year.

Choi's victory marks the ninth LPGA title for South Korean female golfers this season

Korea’s Shin Ji-yai, a strong favorite for the LPGA Rookie of the Year award, finished third with an eleven-under 277.
