S.Korea Finishes 2nd in World Judo Championships

South Korea has ranked second in the overall medal tally at the 26th World Judo Championships that ended in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on Sunday.

South Korea won a total of two gold and three bronze medals, coming in second behind Japan, which won three gold, one silver and three bronze medals.

South Korea’s performance was its best since the 2003 world championships in Osaka, Japan, when South Korea garnered three gold medals to rank second in the overall medal tally.

The two gold medals came from Olympic medalist Wang Ki-chun, who beat North Korea’s Kim Chul-soo in the men’s 73-kilogram category, and Lee Kyu-won, who grabbed the gold in the men’s 90-kilogram event.
