'Flu Vaccines for 11 Mln to be Secured This Year'

A domestic manufacturer of vaccines says the supply of vaccines for H1N1 influenza by the end of the year will be enough for eleven million people.

Green Cross expects to produce vaccines using adjuvant agents (antigen reinforcements) for a maximum 9.5 million patients. This coupled with imported vaccines for 1.5 million people will be able to vaccinate as many as eleven million this year.

The government had earlier said the company will produce enough vaccines for 3.5 million people. The target of 9.5 million can be met if the Korea Food and Drug Administration approves by November the production of vaccines using adjuvant agents for an additional six million doses.
