Naro Rocket Prepped for Tuesday Launch

Korea’s first space rocket, the “Naro,” will be launched Tuesday in its second attempt after it failed to blast off on Wednesday due to a software glitch.

The Korea Aerospace Research Institute completed the final rehearsal on Monday and will approve the go-ahead for the launch in a Korea-Russia launch committee meeting Tuesday morning.

The exact launch time will be decided around 1:30 p.m. but is expected to be set for 5 p.m.

Fuel and oxidation agents will be injected two hours before the launch. The automatic countdown begins 15 minutes prior to liftoff.

The Korea Meteorological Administration says the weather conditions are expected to be adequate at the Naro Space Center in Goheung, South Jeolla Province, around 5 p.m.

Last Wednesday the launch was automatically aborted less than eight minutes before the scheduled blastoff.
