The government will seek to expand by 2011 the nation's solar energy market to 100 megawatts, which would provide enough electricity for 27-thousand households.

The presidential committee on green growth made the decision in a meeting held Monday, chaired by Prime Minister Han Seung-soo.

The committee also decided to include descriptions of the importance of green growth in primary and secondary school textbooks in order to enhance environmental education.

The prime minister said that since the government has been establishing the foundation for green growth for the past year, it's time to make green growth take root in the daily lives of the people and the activities of companies and the government.
