Naro to be Launched Aug. 25

The government has rescheduled the launch of its first space rocket for August 25th.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology said on Friday that it set the date after a meeting of the launch management committee.

Vice Science Minister Kim Jung-hyun said errors in the software responsible for measuring tank pressure in the automatic launch sequence have been rectified and that the conditions of the Naro, the launch pad, and the tracking and control facilities have all been assessed and approved.

The launch was postponed less than eight minutes prior to the scheduled blastoff on Wednesday due to a glitch related to the software.

Kim added that the launch could be delayed in the event of bad weather.

The ministry plans to double-check the rocket, the launch pad, the tracking and control facilities and the automatic sequence program before moving the rocket to the launch pad Sunday.
