The government says another attempt to launch the nation’s first space rocket may be possible before August 26th.
The Wednesday launch of the Naro rocket was delayed due to an error in the software responsible for measuring tank pressure, which caused the automatic launch sequence system of the Naro to halt the liftoff.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology said a team of 40 South Korean and Russian engineers identified the software glitch during inspections and consultations on Wednesday and Thursday.
The ministry said that between one and three days will be needed to analyze and fix the error.
South Korean and Russian engineers agree that there are no problems with the rocket’s hardware and that the launch system is in perfect order.
The ministry said, barring any weather problems, the Naro will be able to stay on the launch pad for another five to six days.
The launch time will be rescheduled after the error is fixed, the software and the rocket are double-checked, and the weather conditions are assessed.
