Software Error Caused Halt of 'Naro' Launch

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has disclosed the exact cause of the Wednesday suspension of the launch of the nation’s first space rocket.

According to the ministry, an error in the software responsible for measuring tank pressure caused the automatic launch sequence system of the Naro to halt the liftoff.

The ministry made the announcement at a news conference at the Naro Space Center in Goheung, South Jeolla Province.

The ministry said South Korean and Russian engineers are continuing to analyze the software error.

Based on preliminary analysis, it will take between one and three days to correct the problem.

The launch time will be rescheduled after the error is fixed, the software and the rocket are double-checked, and the weather conditions are assessed.

The launch was halted less than eight minutes before the five p.m. blastoff was scheduled to take place on Wednesday.
