Nation's 1st Rocket Launch Postponed

The nation’s first-ever launch of a space rocket was suspended less than eight minutes before the blastoff was scheduled to take place.

The Korea Space Launch Vehicle-One (KSLV-1) was scheduled to lift off at five p.m. on Wednesday.

The Naro Space Center said the launch will be rescheduled but is not expected to occur within the day.

The center added that it identified technical problems in the automatic launch sequence system, which started 15 minutes prior to the scheduled blastoff.

It’s the seventh time the launch has been delayed.

The president of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, Lee Joo-jin, said a technical committee will be set up to determine the exact cause of the problem.

Engineers have begun dumping fuel from the rocket at the center in South Jeolla Province.
