Weather Unlikely to Bar Rocket Launch

The weather is not expected to hinder the scheduled Wednesday launch of Korea’s first space rocket.

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasts that skies near the Naro Space Center in Goheung County, South Jeolla Province, will be partly cloudy around 4:40 p.m. Wednesday when the “Naro,” or the Korea Space Launch Vehicle-One (KSLV-1), is set to be launched.

Adequate weather conditions for a rocket launch would be a temperature between minus ten and plus 35 degrees Celsius, wind speeds of below 15 meters per second and the absence of lightning within a 20 kilometer radius.
