Nation’s First Rocket Set to Launch on August 19th

The nation’s first-ever launch of a space rocket is scheduled to take place August 19th.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology announced Tuesday that South Korean and Russian experts agreed on the date after close consultations.

The Russian side had initially proposed that the launch of the Korea Space Launch Vehicle-One (KSLV-1) take place between August 14th and 16th.

The ministry said the launch preparation committee will review preparations at the Naro Space Center and will notify international authorities of the launch.

Korea’s deputy minister of science and technology policy, Lee Sang-mok, added that the launch could be delayed to August 26th if the weather conditions on the 19th are unfavorable.

The launch of the KSLV-One was originally set for July 30th but has been delayed twice.
