Russia: KSLV-1 Launch Cleared for Aug. 14-16

The nation’s first-ever launch of a space rocket will likely come some time next weekend.

The launch, originally scheduled to take place next Tuesday, has been postponed after Russia found some technical problems during its analysis of a combustion test of the main booster last week.

In a Friday briefing, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology said Russia has concluded that an abnormal spike in the revolution of the auxiliary booster pump was caused by a diagnostic glitch, not a structural problem.

Russian scientists assisting the rocket launch are now proposing the launch of the Korea Space Launch Vehicle-1 (KSLV-1) take place between August 14th and 16th.

The ministry says the launch preparation committee in Seoul will finalize the launch date after consulting with Russian officials.
