Park Tae-hwan has failed to qualify for the 1,500-meter freestyle finals at the World Swimming Championships in Rome, finishing a disappointing tournament.

In the fourth heat, he finished fifth with a time of 15 minutes 0.87 seconds and ninth overall in the field. The top eight finishers advanced to the final.

Park also failed to defend his 400-meter freestyle title by not making the cut. He also did not make the final of the 200 meters.
