Climber Ko Awarded Medal Posthumously

Deceased mountain climber Ko Mi-young has been posthumously awarded a medal for her contribution to the development of Korean sports.

Ko died earlier this month while descending the 81-hundred-meter-tall Nanga Parbat, the ninth-highest peak among the 14 tallest Himalayan mountains.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yu In-chon visited the memorial altar for Ko at the National Medical Center Monday to deliver the medal to the bereaved family.
