1st Space Rocket Launch Delayed

South Korea’s first space rocket launch originally scheduled for July 30th has been delayed.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology said Friday that Russian authorities recently informed the ministry that they will not be able to conduct the pre-launch combustion test for the first stage of the Korea Space Launch Vehicle-One rocket until after July 27th due to technical problems. As a result, there may not be enough time between the test and the scheduled launch date to prepare.

It is the fifth time for the launch date to be rescheduled since the original date was set in 2005.

No new date has been set for the launch, but observers say it is expected to come ten days later than the originally set date of July 30th.

A government official assured the delay is not due to defects in the projectile.
