Domestic researchers have found a trigger and mechanism of oligospermia, a cause of male infertility.

Oligospermia is a medical symton of low sperm count affecting men.

Professor Lee Soo-man and his team at CHA University Stem Cell Institute said Monday that they analyzed base sequences of genes involved in forming sperms and male productive organs and identified genetic mutation of a protein only found in sterile men.

The team expects their findings will help sterile couples trying to have a baby.

Their findings appeared on the online edition of Journal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine.
