Domestic researchers have developed the technology to double circuit density by using the ambipolarity of carbon nanotube transistors.

A team led by Professor Lee Young-hee at Sungkyunkwan University said Tuesday that it has developed the technology needed to produce logic circuits showing different characters without changing ambipolarity of carbon nanotube transistors.

The team explained that the conventional method of producing carbon nanotube transistors used positive and negative charges separately, but that with the new method, transistors can be made to exhibit different characters depending on the voltage applied.

The team said that the technology will increase the circuit density and thereby decrease the number of transistors in logic circuits.

The findings appeared in the latest edition of "Asia Materials" published by the science journal "Nature."
