Main Booster Arrives for Nation’s First Rocket

The main booster for the nation’s first ever space rocket, Naro, has arrived at the Gimhae International Airport from Russia.

The booster, is currently kept at Korean Air Tech Center after going through detailed inspections. It was brought in by the Russian flagged cargo plane, Antonov-124, on Friday.

The 130-ton booster is 25-point-eight meters in length and two-point-nine meters in diameter.

Authorities said the rocket booster will be moved to a nearby port in Busan, and sent to the Naro Space Center in a vibration-controlled container by a special barge.

Officials added that the entire transportation process will not be disclosed to the public due to security reasons.

The booster for Naro, or the Korea Space Launch Vehicle-1 (KSLV-1) is made up of a main engine, fuel tanks and holding tanks for the oxidizing agent.
