KMA Abandons Monsoon Forecasts

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said on Wednesday that it will no longer make forecasts for summer monsoon seasons.

The KMA says the seasonal forecasts, which started in 1961, have become meaningless due to major changes in summer precipitation patterns on the Korean Peninsula.

The weather agency said that because of global warming, Korea now sees frequent heavy downpours even before and after monsoon season.
