S.Korean Claims Dev't of H1N1 Flu Vaccine

A Korean scientist has developed what he says is the world's first H1N1 influenza vaccine.

Professor Seo Sang-hee at Chungnam National University announced the development on Friday, eleven days after receiving the standard virus strain from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on May fourth.

Six countries including the U.S., Japan and Australia have been attempting to develop a vaccine against the new strain of flu.

Seo said he will release original vaccine seeds for free if the South Korean government and the World Health Organization make such a request.

He began the clinical trial to determine whether one dose of the vaccine can completely immunize people from the new flu strain. The test results will be released in about one month.
