South Korea is seeking to host the World Team Table Tennis Championships in 2014.

Korea Table Tennis Association president Cho Yang-ho met with International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) President Adham Sharara at this year's championships in Yokohama, Japan. And Cho conveyed the nation’s hope to host the team event in 2014.

The championships have been held separately for individuals and teams after being held together for the last time in Osaka in 2001.

Meanwhile, Kim Taek-soo, who is a gold medalist of table tennis at the 1998 Asian Games and the current general manager of the Daewoo Securities team, has been selected as the first Korean to become a committee member of the ITTF.
