Weather Agency to Hire Foreign Expert

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) seeks to employ an overseas expert in order to improve the accuracy of its weather forecasts.

The agency will announce a reorganization plan at the end of this month that will allow for the employment of foreign experts.

Under the imminent reorganization, the administration plans to create a task force under the administrator’s control to improve the nation’s weather forecast system.

A foreign expert will lead the task force, evaluate the agency’s general weather forecast service, and upgrade its weather forecast policies to the level of advanced countries.

Professor Ken Crawford at the University of Oklahoma in the United States is considered the top candidate for the post.
