Anti-wrinkle Substance Found in Strawberries

A team of domestic scientists has discovered that a substance in strawberries helps prevent wrinkles.

According to the team led by Kang Young-hee, a nutrition professor at Hallym University, the substance called ellagic acid helps prevent ultraviolet rays from destroying collagen and causing skin inflammation. As a result, the substance helps reduce wrinkles.

The finding was announced in a recent nutrition symposium held in the U.S. city of New Orleans.

Ellagic acid is an antioxidant rich in vegetables and fruits — strawberries and pomegranates in particular.
