Pyeongchang in Gangwon Province will make a third bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

The Korean Olympic Committee (KOC) approved on Thursday the city's bid for the event at an executive board meeting by a vote of 30 to 13.

With the approval, Pyeongchang will be permitted to launch active efforts to host the games.

Munich in Germany and Annecy in France are also competing to host the event.
