Scientists Clone Pig for Human Transplant

A group of South Korean scientists says they have successfully cloned a pig to produce organs for human transplant.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology said a genetically modified piglet was born on April third and remains healthy.

The piglet was cloned without the gene that has caused similar organs to be rejected when transplanted into a human body.

The group says it is the fifth group in the world to produce a genetically modified pig for human transplant purposes.
