Researchers Develop Next Generation Welding Robots

Researchers have developed next generation welding technology using robots that are capable of increasing car production productivity by five times.

A team of researchers at the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials said Monday that it has developed the technology jointly with auto parts manufacturer Sungwoo Hitech.

Professor Suh Jung, in charge of the team, said that the development will bring advancements to the use of welding robots while increasing car productivity by five times when applied to production lines.

The new technology allows a robot to weld by shooting multiple laser beams simultaneously.
