South Korea’s sizeable victory over Venezuela in the semifinals of the World Baseball Classic on Sunday has Korea smelling the WBC championship.

The New York Times said South Korea’s 10-2 stomping of Venezuela on Sunday was barely competitive, calling it a “stomping” and an “annihilation.”

The daily said the South Koreans effectively smothered the Venezuelans by running the bases aggressively, hammering balls out of the stadium, and making no glaring mistakes.

The paper said the South Korean team has a “definite swagger” going into the final game Monday night (U.S. time) against the winner of the contest between Japan and the United States.
