South Korea will face Venezuela in the semifinals of the World Baseball Classic after losing its second round match to Japan 2-6 in San Diego on Friday.

The game with archrival Japan was Korea’s fourth of this year’s WBC. With the loss, South Korea finished as the runner-up in Pool One and is headed for a semifinal bout with Pool Two winner Venezuela at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Japan, as the top seed out of Pool One, is poised for a showdown with the United States, the Pool Two runner-up, in Los Angeles on Monday.

South Korea chalked up two wins in four WBC games against Japan.
