US FDA Approves Korea Developed Heart Drug

A treatment for heart disease developed by a Korean bio-drug company has been approved for clinical trials by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The medicine will be used on cardiac patients in the United States.

The Science and Technology Ministry in Seoul says the new candidate drug developed by Korean bio-venture ViroMed and the U.S. Johnson & Johnson group has been confirmed to produce new capillary vessels around the heart.

The Minneapolis Heart Institute and the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago will begin clinical testing from May.
