The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards under the Ministry of Knowledge Economy said Thursday that the nation made 212 requests for international standardization recognition between 2001 and end of last year.

The nation applied for eight international standardizations in 2001. The number jumped to 61 in 2008.

Over 200 of the 212 requests for standardization the nation has made have been approved.

The number of Koreans on the technology committee of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) also increased to 81 last year from six in 2000.
