The second World Baseball Classic will open in Tokyo on Thursday with Japan facing China.

South Korea, who meets Taiwan in its first game on Friday, is in group A along with Taiwan, Japan and China.

The semifinal and final competitions will be held in Los Angeles starting March 22nd.

Sixteen countries are taking part in the event.
