Korea struck gold in Winter Games

South Korea has struck gold at the Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. Ko Gi-hyun won finished first in two minutes, 31 seconds, 5-8-1 in the women's 15 hundred meter short track speed skating competition ... giving South Korea its first gold medal. Her teammate Choi Eun-kyung garnered the silver medal with a time of two minutes 31 seconds 6-1-0. The bronze medal went to Bulgaria's Evgenia Radanova. In the semifinal, Choi also set the world record at two minutes, 21 seconds 0-6-9. Meanwhile, South Korea's Min Ryoung is being treated at a hospital after a crash during the men's five thousand meter relay. The 19-year-old became entangled with an Italian competitor while entering the first corner midway through the 46 lap race. The race was ordered rerun and South Korea disqualified.
