Olympic medalist Wang Ki-chun is currently atop the International Judo Federation's world ranking list in the men's 73-kilogram category.
In the rankings released Monday, Wang received a score of 300, with Mansur Isaev of Russia coming in second with a score of 260.
The federation grants points to individuals according to their performances in the World Cup, Grand Prix, Grand Slam, Masters, World Championship, the Olympic Games and the Continental.
All judokas started with a point total of zero for this year. The 21-year-old Wang earned 300 points for his Grand Slam victory in Paris. Wang also brought home a silver medal from last year's Beijing Olympics.
Korea's Song Dae-nam also topped the ranking in the 81-kilogram class with 300 points.
