Seoul City Hall announced Wednesday its plan for accommodating French tourists during the upcoming 2002 World Cup in May and June. Anticipating 15,000 French tourists during the period, City Hall officials recommended hotels in Sodaemun and Mapo close to the Seoul World Cup Stadium offer rooms for French tourists. The hotels include mid-range and budget accommodations. The city also plans to station about 700 volunteer and professional French-Korean interpreters near tourist attractions and the stadium during the event. Some 1,700 backpackers will be able to use two camping sites in Kwachon and Nanjido. City hall officials said they will make joint efforts with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to secure hotel rooms.
