U.S. cable sports network ESPN says of the 16 countries set to participate in March’s World Baseball Classic (WBC), Korea looks to bring the second strongest pitching staff to the competition.
Senior writer Jason Stark wrote in a column that based on the provisional 45-man rosters of each country for the WBC, Korea trailed only Japan in terms of pitching rotation potential.
Stark quoted a panelist as saying that Korea and Japan will have the two strongest staffs because they start spring training camp relatively early and will be in top form by March first.
He had the Dominican Republic at the top of his potential lineup rankings, followed by the U.S. and Cuba.
