The FIS Snowboard Championships that began Friday in Gangwon Province is drawing a number of global figures from the sport.

The organizing committee said Sunday that a number of renowned sports figures visited the venue, including International Ski Federation President Gian Franco Kasper and Vice President Yoshiro Ito.

Ambassadors and consuls from ten countries including Switzerland, Italy and Finland also attended, along with Korea's Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister Yu In-chon.

An official welcoming event was held Saturday evening featuring an congratulatory concert.
