Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy to Launch Korean Satellite

Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Limited has won a deal to launch a South Korean satellite.

The Tokyo Shimbun daily reported that the deal is the first commercial order Japan has received since it privatized its rocket-launching business in 2007.

The report added that the Korean satellite Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy will launch into orbit will be the Arirang 3, currently under development by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute.

The multipurpose satellite will be launched in 2011 from the space center in Kagoshima Prefecture.
